The Ruby and Daisy Story

August 2013

The day has finally arrived... it's our big opening!! After weeks of excitement and a countdown to all of our friends and family through facebook, the town is buzzing to see the opening of our beautiful boutique – Ruby & Daisy!

Here we are with our beautiful daughters, the inspiration for our company name... Ruby and Daisy. They were both so proud to see their names above the door of such a unique shop and unlike anything the town of Haslingden had ever seen before.

Our original branding... cute but soon to be outgrown as the business was to rapidly expand!!

Little did we know that our original idea of a one stop shop where busy mums could come in and not only find themselves that special outfit for maybe a Christening which they were attending, but also to find the Christening gift there at the same time and to get it beautifully gift wrapped while they browsed the homeware selection for anything beautiful to decorate their treasured homes with, would very soon become so popular and demanding at the same time that we would need to expand!

As soon as the building next door became available we saw the opening of our ladies shoe shop – R&D Footwear. Still using our original branding of the R&D from Ruby & Daisy. We wanted people to know that this was a company coming from the same passionate and trustworthy people that were proving themselves at Ruby & Daisy.

September 2014

With success and demand continuing to grow we saw our busiest month to date where we not only opened our second ladies clothing boutique in the pretty market town of Ramsbottom but we also obtained another property alongside our Haslingden store of Ruby & Daisy and R&D Footwear so we used that to outreach our home and giftware departments. This saw the birth of Room Deardengate. Again holding onto our R & D again and incorporating those with the street name Deardengate!

Now with a strong team of 13 ladies which had grown from just the two of us just twelve months before we began to grow in our skills and shine! We were recognised for our innonative displays and won Best Window Display from Butterflytwists and were soon sent off to Paris on an all expenses paid trip for our prize!

We began to sponsor local charity events and became a well talked about and recognised brand not only within our own town but now outreaching to other areas.

December 2014

The news of Ruby & Daisy had travelled well and in December 2014 we were crowned the winners of " New Business" in the Rossendale Business Awards 2014. This was an amazing acheivement for the whole team and set us off on a rollercoaster of events!!

Rossendale Business Awards 2014

Not long after our win, we were hit with the news that we had now been named as the winner of "Best Independant Shop" in Rossendale. This was a big deal for us as the winner had been voted for and chosen by the public!! This was just the proof we needed to show that by listening to our customers on a daily basis and adapting to their needs they felt that what we were doing was working for them and this showed in their voting! We were ecstatic!!

Our prize would be to visit London and be wined and dined in the Houses of Parliament with our local MP Jake Berry. We loved every minute!!

January 2105

Once our feet had made it back to the ground again it was back to business and time for another change!!... the shop layout. It didn't make sense to us to have our customers leave our clothes shop to have them walk into our footwear shop and with staff running backwards and forwards to help customers with their needs we thought the only answer was to knock through!

And boy were we right!! What a massive difference this made in the service we could give to our customers now! From day one, our ethos has always been to welcome, greet and assist every customer as little or as much as they require and to make each customer feel that they have had their own personal shopping experience. With the two shops now becoming one, we could dress a lady from head to toe should she so desire.

March 2015

This is surreal!! March sees us in the Blackpool Winter Gardens in a 1400 people strong audience and collecting the award for "New Business of the Year". We were alongside the best of the best in the whole and of Lancashire and we did it!! It is unbelieveable to us that we have achieved so much in 18 months and the passion to keep growing and keep moving forward is still has strong as it was on day one!
